Privacy Policy
Last Updated: October 2, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information Expentify (the website at expentify.com and the Expentify Android app) collects, how it is used, and the choices you have.
1. Information We Collect
Most of Expentify runs in your browser or in the app on your device.
- On your device: If you use Expentify without an account, the wallets, transactions and settings you enter are saved in your browser's local storage (or the app's storage) and stay on that device.
- Your account: If you sign in (with Google or with email and password), your name, email address, wallets, transactions and settings are stored in Google Firebase (Authentication and Firestore) so they can be synced across your devices. Data is sent over encrypted (HTTPS) connections.
- AI features: When you run the Gemini AI audit, your wallets, transactions and your question are sent through our server to Google's Gemini API to produce the analysis. Questions you type into the support chat are sent the same way. Nothing is sent unless you use these features.
- Contact form and feedback: If you send us a message or feedback, we store your name, email address and message so we can reply.
- Analytics: We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are used. It sets cookies and collects information such as pages viewed, device type and approximate location.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use this information only to run Expentify:
- To show your balances, reports and summaries.
- To run the AI audit and support chat when you use them.
- To show ads: Google AdSense on the website and Google AdMob in the Android app.
- To sync your data across your own devices when you are signed in, and to reply to messages you send us.
3. Third-Party Publisher Partners & AdSense
Expentify is free and is supported by ads served by Google (AdSense on the website, AdMob in the app). About the cookies and identifiers they use:
- Personalized Advertising: Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to our website or other websites on the Internet.
- Google's Advertising Cookies: Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to our users based on their visit to our site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- How to Opt Out: You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's official Ads Settings. Alternatively, you can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.
- Consent (EEA, UK and Switzerland): Where the law requires it, Google's consent message asks for your choice before personalized ads are shown, on the website and in the app.
4. GDPR & CCPA Data Rights
You can access, correct or delete your information at any time:
- Delete: "Wipe & Start Fresh" in Settings clears the data on your device. Deleting your account from your profile removes your account and the data stored with it. You can also ask us to delete it using the Contact page.
- Access: All your records are visible in the app and can be exported (for example to Google Sheets). We do not sell your personal information.
